Unit 1:

  • Cartography: Cartografía/Is the discipline that is concerned with representing territories, from the smallest ones to the Earth

  • Physical geography: Geografia física/The study of the natural enviroment (relief, climates, water, plants, soil structure and fauna)

  • Mountain: Montaña/Natural elevation of land.
  • Plate tectonics: Placas tectónicas/The two sub-layers of the earth's crust that move, flote, and sometimes fracture and whose interaction causes continental drift, earthquakes, volcanoes, mountains, and oceanic trenches.
  • Mantle: Manto/Layer of the Earth.
  • Crust: Corteza/In the Earth, the outermost(mas exterior) layer.
  • Volcanou: Volcan/Mountain that expels lava or ash (ceniza).
  • Collide: Colisión/Smash together
  • Huge: Enorme/Something very big.
  • Subduction: Subducir/In geology: When one plate collide to other plate and then go down the other. 
  • Uplife: Levantamineto/In geology: When two plates collide and then they go up.
  • (Ex: Himalaya)
  • Hypo-center: Hipocentro/Deep zone of the earth's crust where an earthquake starts
  • Fault line: Falla/In geology: A crack in the Earth.
  • Epi-center: Epicentro/The center of a earthquake.
  • Core: Núcleo/Centre of a planet
